Dr Ian Dufton, Consultant Child Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead, Bolton Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, UK

Dr Ian Dufton re-established the lead clinician team in Bolton’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and created  multidisciplinary cross professional groups to harness the team’s creativity and push forward the service. Measuring achievement in mental health is known to be difficult and the judges were impressed by the clear benchmarking and goals that were set as well as the achievements of the service against them.

Ian Dufton said:

 "Being shortlisted was an honour, a thrill but mostly a shock. It was the recognition the team deserved for their hard work, creativity & fearlessness when facing continuous change and while I am proud to represent them, it is their work I am being honoured for. Winning? Winning would be fantastic, for the team, for our organisation and for child and adolescent mental health services as a whole. It would be a justification of our efforts to put LEAN into CAMHS and spur us on for the future continuous improvements we need to make."
