About us
We are delighted to be launching the fifth BMJ Group Improving Health Awards which will take place on 9th May 2013 at the Westminster Park Plaza, London.
As an organisation the BMJ Group strive to provide the knowledge and tools that will help clinicians to make better decisions and improve outcomes for patients. The challenges that health professionals, providers and health systems face today to provide high quality care within finite resources has never been greater. We recognise that there are many unsung heros in healthcare whose ideas, initiatives and sheer hard work and commitment so often go unrecognised and yet make a valuable contribution towards improving the quality of healthcare. We hope that our Awards go some way towards marking these exceptional contributions and achievements.
About the 2012 Awards, Dr Fiona Godlee, Editor-in-Chief of the BMJ said:
"We are delighted once again by the response to our annual awards. This year we received over 350 nominations for the 11 diverse range of categories. The Awards continue to provide the year's biggest opportunity to celebrate excellence in research and clinical practice. The event provides one of those rare chances to step back from the hectic pressures of day to day healthcare delivery and recognise exceptional achievement."
"With a BMJ Group Award stamp on our work it will help to support dissemination and propel it further."
Excellence in Healthcare Education winner 2012, Dr Maria Ahmed, NHS North West, North Western Deanery and Imperial College CPSSQ
"The Award means everything to us. It is recognition for the hard work by various people within our hospitals and universities and what we have achieved in collaboration between the nurses, the doctors, the academics and the IT department. Sometimes it feels like you don't get rewarded for your achievements but this will really change the way we do things in Nottingham."
Transforming Patient Care using Technology winner 2012, Dominick Shaw, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
