Dr Andrews was appointed Director of Infection Prevention and Control in October 2007 at a time when the Whittington was under intense pressure for failing to achieve its HCAI targets. Using various strategies such as practical procedures training and root cause analysis she has inspired her colleagues and embedded the concept of a wider infection and prevention team.
Marie Connor – Director of Mildmay UK, specialist unit for people with HIV related neuro-cognitive impairment. London, England
Marie Connor has led the team through the rapids of organisational and service change and overseen the progress and change of direction of Mildmay UK from a hospice to a specialist unit for assessment and neuro cognitive rehabilitation.
Alex Crowe – Consultant Nephrologist, Clinical Lead for Renal Services and Wirral and Chester Clinical Lead for Cheshire and Merseyside Kidney Care Network. Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, England
Dr Crowe last year took on the role of Clinical Lead for Renal Services for Wirral/Chester and utilised this role so successfully that the Wirral Renal Unit has become the first in the country to be accredited as a Practice Development Unit (PDU).
Adrian Hopper and Mark Kinirons – Associate Medical Director and Clinical Lead for Patient and Drug Safety. Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London, England
Dr Hopper and Dr Kinirons have demonstrated clinical leadership to Acute Medicine Directorate through implementation of a wide ranging clinical quality and safety programme which has lead to one of the lowest length of stay and mortality in the NHS.
